Metavari makes electronic music in a basement with a collection of salvaged synthesizers, man-made triggers and a video camera.

From Redefine Magazine, interview at SXSW 2010:
As a band for which "post-rock" has become a self-confessed dirty word, Metavari have certainly found ways to make that classification feel less stagnant. By paying careful attention to detail, they've crafted a sonically and visually-rich world of projections, vinyls, and instrumentation. But the last factor that's really significant is personality. Somehow, Metavari have managed to add an element of themselves into the mix, personalizing a style of music that is intrinsically hard to personalize.

Initially the band 'Laurel Canyon' formed to play one show on a whim. In 2003 the band changed its name to Grails, just before the release of their first full-length album. They adopted a louder, more aggressive style, often switching instruments with each member writing songs that saw them branching out to increasingly disparate styles. They live in Portland but rarely play live in their hometown.

Sarted by high school friends John Emanuele and Richard Cupolo from Queens, NY in 2005, The American Dollar creates pieces that wholly captivate and engage the listener. The duo fuses processed drums, spacious keyboards and powerful organ swells with electric guitar and bass, creating deep sonic textures while maintaining the passion and energy of a live band.

Godspeed You! Black Emperor (formerly punctuated Godspeed You Black Emperor! and abbreviated to GY!BE, GYBE, or just Godspeed) are a Canadian band based in Montreal, Quebec.

Formed in 1994 in Montreal, Canada, the band has been highly influential within the post-rock genre. After three years of building songs up, then carving them back down to their essentials, My Dad vs Yours has broken the post-rock mould into sparkling gems. Their second full-length album, Little Symphonies, is built around philosophies of pop music by balancing aesthetic and practical landscapes influenced by Phil Spector’s “wall of sound”.

Combining emotional vocals with elements of post-rock and emo, the band has often been compared to The Appleseed Cast.

The band was formed in Westchester, New York in 2005 by Gregory Dunn (guitar/vocals) and Nicholas Pizzolato (drums). A self-titled demo EP was leaked to the public in early 2006 and their debut album Pneuma was released independently in early 2007. Later that year, Frank Graniero (guitar/vocals) and Mitchell Lee (bass) completed the band’s line-up. In 2008, Pneuma was reissued by Deep Elm.
